Dear Visitor ji,
This is particularly a difficult message for me to write because at the time when we should have been celebrating the festivities of Diwali the news of untimely death of Manmeet Alisher has saddened the community. The brutal incomprehensible act of cruelty, and the manner in which Manmeet died has spread shockwave within the community.
Manmeet Alisher was a generous and kind-hearted man, who was committed to his community back home and in Australia. There are sentiments of anguish within the community but we must not reach to any conclusions while the police investigations are underway. We have full faith in the justice system of our country and we believe that the guilty will be appropriately and adequately punished by the law of land. Our prayers are for the departed soul and with family of Manmeet. Cricket team players, supporters and spectators along with FINACT officials paid rich tribute to the departed soul on Sunday 30 October.
In an another development, you may be aware that Indian High Commissioner to Australia, His Excellency Mr Navdeep Suri has been appointed as an Ambassador to United Arab Emirates and will be leaving Australia soon. UAE being a strategically important nation and a major supplier of major sources of energy to India is home to around 2.6 million-strong Indian community, it would be an important placement for Mr Suri.
