Winter has finally come with a big chill. The multiculturalism in Canberra is keeping the communities warm and celebrating.

As part of promoting inclusiveness and enabling communities of Indian diaspora, FINACT is part of many new year celebrations and supporting new initiatives. FINACT enables the communities to develop their networks through various activities such as sports for youth, annual Harmony Day for community leaders, and businesses participation in our first-ever AusIndia Fair in Canberra. Now AusIndia Fair is a FINACT trademark in Australia for community organisations to promote the concept.

FINACT is also bringing a new initiative for ACT hinterland business owners of Indian diaspora to develop networks and workshop. Please stay tuned for more news and updates..

FINACT General Council Meeting will be held on 22 May to review the initiatives and seeking guidance to move the organisation into new financial year.

Funding under the digital grants from the ACT Government has further boosted our capabilities and confidence in meeting our objectives. We thank the ACT Government for their generosity that enables us to extend our tools to our member associations. Please see below for more information on how you can use this feature. 

As you know FINACT newsletter is generally published once a month. If our member associations like to publish their organisation's event in the FINACT newsletter, please provide the following information:

• Event name, date, time and venue followed by text
• Text in word format (not PDF)
• Text within 150 words
• One image/picture if needed.

If you have a flyer ready for the event then FINACT can also publish the flyer in the newsletter.

Rajdhani Marathi Mandal Canberra would be organizing community fun night (DJ night) at the Northside Community Service Majura Centreon 2^nd June from 5:30pm till 8:30pm.

 

 

International Day of Yoga - Thurs 21 June

United Nations General Assembly has declared 21^st June as an International Yoga Day (IDY). The main purpose of this is to enhance and promote awareness of Yoga and its social, mental, intellectual and physical health benefits to the wider Australian community. On this occasion, a large number of Yoga awareness events will be held across the globe and in Canberra as well. High Commission of India and FINACT, along with many spiritual and yoga institutions are organising a series of public events in June.

 

High Commission of India is organising the IDY at Albert Hall on Sunday 24 June 2018 and more details will be updated in the June Newsletter.

 

Art of Living Canberra, in collaboration with FINACT, will be organsing the International Day of Yoga on Thursday 21 June at the ACT Assembly Reception Hall at 12pm. Australian Tamil Cultural Society Celebrates New Year - 14 April 

ATCS Celebrated the Thamizh New Year (TNY) function on 14 April (which happens to be the actual Tamil New Year Day) in a grand manner.

We had more than 130 members attended the celebrations which started with traditional President speech. For a change, this time we had several children split the programs equally and did the compering. Dialogue delivery with natural facts discussion about TNY mesmerized our audience. We could again get to meet several other Indian and Srilankan association presidents within the function.

Training Session on Software Testing by IT Alliance - Sat 5 May

As part of IT Alliance Australia’s corporate social responsibility, complimentary skills development drive has been initiated across Australia. First training session on Software Testing was scheduled on 5^th of May at Hotel Realm in Canberra.

It was a completely booked session. Event was graced by Hon. Alistair Coe (leader of opposition, ACT), Hon. Elizabeth Kikkert (Shadow minister for multicultural affairs, ACT),  IT corporates and community leaders who motivated the trainees with their motivational speeches. We have been able to successfully share some trainees profiles with our corporate clients for internships/placements. We are committed towards adding value to people’s lives.
