Dear Visitor ji,
Welcome to the April edition of FINACT Newsletter.
Thank you all for making the AusIndia Fair a great success. Please see highlights of this event in this edition.
Now that the AusIndia Fair is out of the way, we are looking forward to progressing a number of other initiatives discussed below.
Please see the updated FINACT Events Calendar. We request all members to help us in keeping this calendar up to date and avoid scheduling multiple events on the same day.
Hope you all had a chance to take a break and relax during the Easter and ANZAC day long weekends. I had a relaxing holiday over the long weekend at Tuross Head, with perfect weather for walking and swimming.
Enjoy Canberra autumn colours and make sure your heaters have been serviced and ready to be turned on anytime now!

Highlights & Glimpses of the AusIndia Fair 2022
Our Sincere thanks to High Commission of India, Canberra, ACT Government and businesses for sponsoring the Arvensys AusIndia Fair 2022.
ANZAC Day Memorial Service 2022
FINACT president attended Anzac Day Dawn Service at Tuross Head Memorial Gardens. It was a special day and a special location overlooking the coastal waters, and a rare alignment of four planets in the dawn sky. Anzac spirit is as relevant today as it was then. More than 5000 people gathered to pay respect to the ANZAC heroes and prayed for world peace. We also commemorate more than 15,000 Indian Anzacs who fought at Gallipoli. Here is a picture gallery.
Upcoming Events
FINACT Business Network
FINACT EC has been exploring ways to connect job seekers with job providers for a timely response in this tight employment market. We expect to launch a free service allowing two-way communication between job seekers and job providers for key industry sectors - ICT, hospitality, education, finance, public health and social services, construction and real estate.
It will be a modest start and depending on the uptake we can scale up the program to meet the demand. Watch this space for further details.
Workshop on the Interim Australia India Free Trade Agreement
On 2 April 2022, the Government of India and Australian Government signed an interim trade agreement. Hon Piyush Goyal, Minister for Commerce and Industry, Government of India, noted the historic significance of this agreement in this letter addressed to the Indian diaspora. Further details of the agreement can be found here. FINACT EC has been working with relevant industry bodies to organise a workshop in late May to unpack this agreement and explore what it means for Canberra businesses. We will be announcing further details shortly.

Sponsorship Appreciated for FINACT Events
We understand that one of the main reasons to sponsor a tournament and any event could be to promote one’s business and generate goodwill in the community. Sponsoring the FINACT events will give you brand recognition among the fastest-growing community group of Indians in the ACT and increase sales or traffic to sponsor’s website through their banner on our website (www.finact.net.au ).
Indians are the fastest growing population in Australia. This has resulted in increased air traffic between India and Australia; increased telecommunication; and enhanced trade and cultural ties. For sporting events - players and their supporters make playing cricket a fiercely competitive and memorable event. They will promote the game and use your services to show their appreciation.
In addition to providing an excellent opportunity to connect with the Indian sub-continent communities, the FINACT events' sponsorship will:
- enable sponsors to reach out to wider community groups in ACT and surrounds
- fulfil sponsors business objectives and attract sizeable potential customers
- provide a lasting impression of their business
- promote sports and physical activities in the community
- motivate and assist young players participating in the tournament and community activities
- attract favourable feedback from organisers and media partners
- generate great feel-good stories in Indian community and back to India and neighbouring countries and
- fulfil sponsor’s corporate and social responsibilities
If you are willing to or interested in sponsoring our events, please contact us soon.
