Dear Visitor ji,
FINACT had its general council meeting at Parliament House on 1 May 2014. Senator Kate Lundy hosted the meeting and briefed participants about the potential impacts of Commission of Audit report and Australian Government actions on fiscal deficit particularly on the job losses in Canberra. Senator has suggested FINACT and its member associations organise information sessions for communities to be aware of Government support services, community resilience, personal & financial counselling etc. by economists and relevant professionals. We are working on it and will advise you shortly of an event on this matter.
Community involvement for new migrants
FINACT is engaging Indian community leaders to prepare a submission on community involvement for new immigrants. Mostly the Indians are skilled migrants and there is no support available from Australian Governments for their seamless settlement. The local communities are interested to be involved and support new migrants. FINACT takes the lead to make submission to the Minister of Social Services. Senator Zed Seslja office is also supporting this initiative.
Temple in Gungahlin Area
FINACT is coordinating with ts member associations and community leaders to build a Hindu temple in Gungahlin region for future generations. FINACT and its member associations along with Hindu Council of Australia have supported the temple committee to submit an application for land in ACT.
