Festival of India - Sat 24 March
AusIndia Fair is an event for celebration, showcasing and promotion of India in Australia emphasising the niche businesses, values, spirituality, culture and communities in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). It is the biggest ever Indian event in the ACT that promotes a holistic India.
Canberra Punjabi Sports and Cultural Association (CPSCA) has initiated the concept of annual AusIndia Fair and is actively supporting FINACT to coordinate the event.
FINACT and its member associations are organising annual “AusIndia Fair” on 24 March 2018 at Stage 88, Commonwealth Park in Canberra to make AusIndia Fair a fun-filled, exciting and eagerly anticipated annual event on the local calendar.
The event is aimed to promote and encourage inclusiveness of Indian communities, culture, food, businesses and values in Australia. The fair is providing an opportunity for wider Australian communities to participate and enjoy the proactive, productive, vibrant and dynamic AusIndia community.
Given this, the 2018 AusIndia Fair will provide an excellent marketing opportunity for businesses seeking to promote their goods and services; bring all interesting aspects of India on one platform instead of the current piecemeal approach; and for the promoters, sponsors and participants to promote and harness mutual opportunities for India and Australia.
The event will have a stage for performances and addressing the crowd. There will be about 30 stalls for promoting various states, business information, food and tourism.
The AusIndia Fair will be advertised in the local newspapers, community newspapers in Sydney and Melbourne, Yupp TV, SBS, ABC, FINACT and community newsletters, through social media and letterboxing.
Sponsorship packages are available for businesses and organisations and they will be officially recognised as supporters of AusIndia Fair 2018.
FINACT invites you to be part of this exciting and enjoyable journey.

International Mother Language Movement - Language Walk on Sun 25 February
Children Language Sanctuary
ACT Bilingual Education Alliance (ACTBEA) is organising language related activities at the Children’s Sanctuary at the National Multicultural Festival in February 2018. One of the things we are doing is looking for people who can write in other scripts to promote awareness of the great variety of languages being spoken and/or learned in Canberra. Volunteers should have neat writing and be able to show children and their families how their names can be written down in another script. It would be wonderful to have several Indian scripts represented, so I hope you can pass this message on to FINACT members.
The Children’s Sanctuary will be in CMAG in Civic Square:
10am - 4pm, Saturday 17 February 2018
11am - 4pm, Sunday 18 February 2018
A small honorarium is available for volunteers who can help for a minimum of 90 minutes. Teenagers and young adults particularly welcome. Seeing their writing skills valued in this way may inspire them to further develop their language abilities.
